John Scott, a retired educator with nearly six decades of experience in painting and sculpture, now dedicates his time to travel, photography, and art. His rich background in education and the arts allows him to capture stunning visuals and create captivating artwork. "I've spent my life seeing and creating images which I have exhibited both here in New Zealand and overseas. I have been fortunate in that I have had a career that has allowed me to combine my creative interests with another gtrat passion, travel. With my wife Dawn we have travelled to most corners of the globe which has opened up doors to the art and the diverse cultures of the world which I have been able to capture in photographs." John Scott was born in 1945 and attended the University of Otago before graduating from Canterbury University. His artworks include paintings, sculpture, mixed media works and photography. Associated involvement in the arts has included his leadership in the NZ Polytechnic system, as CEO of both Wanganui Polytechnic and the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology. Scott also served as president of the New Zealand Crafts Council and has been actively involved in writing on the arts and crafts, and judging arts and crafts both here and overseas.
